Tessellation

interrupting the geometric rhythm
The geometric pattern that forms the base of this graphic was in development for several months as an endless texture for precast RCC boundary wall panels for an eco-park project, which fell through. The vibrant multi-colored version was developed for a family wedding invite. The unending pattern was, on one hand, interrupted by breaking open the basing rhombic unit and creating several variations; and, on the other hand, it was scaled and multiplied to express growth from bottom up.
I assigned the multicolored version to my little sister-in-law for whose wedding the invite was created. I kept the black one for myself and created. The other variations were either random – pausing where I felt content. Or they were created bearing in mind the personality of the loved one that I was to gift the work to.
