vacuunair: exhibition

The Ahmedabad based company manufactures specialized ventilation systems and vital process components for other industrial plants across various sectors. For their stall within the 2013 Paperex Exhibition at Pragati Maidan, Vacuunair’s own factory, production processes, and machinery & equipment presented the opportunity of creating a dramatic frame for a display conventionally considered drab.

The design process started with photo-documentation of the factory: recording raw material, welding & washing work and the space. Industrial spaces, objects & processes offer an exciting counterpoint in scale, form, texture etc. when juxtaposed on to familiar daily life. Within its own context, however, factories themselves become familiar, ordinary routine. To highlight its extraordinariness, the photographs were digitally edited to enhance saturation, contrast & blackpoints of the images and emphasize the events.
